Naomi Cowan and Jesse Royal are scheduled to embark on a seven-show tour of Europe next week. The duo are confirmed for dates in Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, and Sweden.
The tour kicks off on November 8 at the Rote Fabrik venue in Zurich, Switzerland. Three of the gigs will take place in Sweden — in Stockholm, Malmo and Uppsala.
It will be Cowan’s most extensive overseas trip to date. Her lone appearance in Europe was in 2017 at the Uppsala Reggae Festival.
Last year was the singer’s since launching her recording career four years ago. She had chart success with Paradise Plum, which was a hit in reggae markets in the United States, and earned her slots on high-profile events like Reggae Sumfest and the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival in Florida.
Her latest song, One True Love, is currently number seven on the British Reggae iTunes Chart.
According to Cowan, the shows came about after she met Jesse Royal’s booking agent while visiting Europe this year. She added that though short, the trek is a career boost.
“The European market is massive for reggae. Being able to connect with people in person will deepen the connection and expand my listenership,” she said.
Jesse Royal, a leading figure in the much-touted roots-reggae revival, has done the European rounds over the last five years. He has performed on some of the region’s top festivals including Rototom Sunsplash in Spain, Summerjam in Germany and Reggae Geel in Belgium.
He and Cowan will also appear at Strain Hunters in Barcelona, and Vizarts in Antwerp Belgium.
