Music personality GT Taylor believes that his annual event, dubbed ‘GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza Euphoria 2019’, will provide a significant multimillion-dollar economic jolt to the sleepy, coastal town, and is a major boon for south coast tourism.

“The entire parish benefits in some way from the event, from merchandisers and retailers, to vendors, to hotels, the event generates millions of extra income for the hard-working business people of Black River,” GT Taylor told the Jamaica Observer.

“The event brings visitors to businesses in the area every year and provides a boost for tourism in the area, and we have had dialogue with hotels in the area who will be offering special rates to guests…hotels like Waterloo Guest House, Idler’s Rest and Port Of Call are just a few minutes away from the venue.”

Extravaganza Euphoria will have its 19th staging on Christmas day at the Sand Bar Beach on Crane Road in Black River, St Elizabeth. The event will feature a new format and new venue with fewer artistes and more disc jockeys who will provide a constant string of reggae, dancehall, R&B and hip hop hits.

“We’ve had a long relationship with the event, I give a special rate to Mr Taylor’s artistes and patrons because whenever there is an event, business people in the area benefit.

People always find their way to Port of Call. We actually look forward to the event, as the entire town benefits from the Extravaganza,” revealed Reginald Bennett, proprietor of the Port of Call Hotel for over 20 years.

“There will be paid parking inside the venue, plus two additional free parking lots will be available. We have engaged the police to assist with security. Patrons will get a welcome drink on entry. The gates will be open from 12:00 noon to accommodate beach goers, but the party starts at 6:00 pm, and artistes will perform in-between DJ sets,” Taylor noted.
