Never one to shy from being different, Jamaica-born, Atlanta-based Kalleem London does just that on Extraterrestrial, his latest song which dropped in September. It is produced by El Seis Dios.
As its title suggests, the hip hop single delves into the celestial. But with a twist.
“Extraterrestrial speaks of aliens teleporting to Earth to celebrate a festival with Hennessy,” Kalleem London explained.
Extraterrestrial is the follow-up to Badmon, his 2018 single which is a blend of dancehall, hip hop and Trap. It is produced by BeatsByMantra, who was behind Selfish, a big hit in 2017 for rapper Future and Rihanna.
According to Kalleem London, “Badmon glamorizes the fantasies of the youth; fast cars, beautiful women and violence.”
The rapper/deejay was raised in Portmore, St. Catherine, just outside of Kingston, Jamaica’s capital. One of his main influences is Vybz Kartel and Kartel’s former protégé, Popcaan.
As far as hip hop, Kalleem London points to Travis Scott, PartyNextDoor and Jerry Lorenzo as favorites.
Adept at dancehall and hip hop, Kalleem London has been recording for over 10 years, doing songs in both genres.
Some of his more successful singles include Girls Mon, Styrofoam and Benzedrine.
Kalleem London plans to close 2019 with the release of DRUNK, another song that incorporates his diverse influences.
