Tony Anthony—

Having been exposed to diverse genres in his 35-year career, Tony Anthony has an appreciation for songs that appeal to his parents, peers and his children. It was not difficult choosing songs for his third album, Then Now & Forever.

The set was released in late October by his Phylani Music. It contains reggae interpretations of songs he loves, including Wonderful World by Tom Jones, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes’ Wake up Everybody, Today I’m Gonna Try and Change The World by Johnny Reid, and There Goes my Baby, originally done by Charlie Wilson of Gap Band fame.

According to the Toronto-based Anthony, “All are personal favourites of mine, but peoples reaction when I perform these songs live is also a huge factor why I chose these particular songs.”

Today I’m Gonna Try and Change The World was released in 2017; That Wonderful Sound came out early this year. There Goes my Baby, officially the first release from Then Now & Forever, was recently released.

Anthony produced 10 of its 12 songs. Music for most of the tracks were played and arranged by Osborne “Ifield” Joseph.

There are also versions of the Carole King standard, You’ve Got A Friend, and Faith Hill and Tim McGraw’s Speak to A Girl.

It earned Anthony Canadian Reggae Awards for Best Album and Best Songwriter. Live to The Fullest, his second album, was released in 2015.
