There is an old Jamaican proverb that says, ‘good friend better than pocket money’. It’s an adage singjay Zella Dino endorses and tries to live by.
He addresses the importance of true friendship in Loyalty 4 Ever, his latest song, which was released in December by Zojak World Wide. It is self-produced for his Boots On The Ground Entertainment label.
“It’s really all about friendship and people who are prepared to help you when things are down. Mi have a few bredrin like dat. One in particular who help me through some tough times,” said Zella Dino, who is based in Maryland.
Loyalty 4 Ever caps a fairly busy year for Zella Dino who launched his vocal career in January with Wake Up Call. He followed-up with Squeeky Cleany and Summer Time.
Zella Dino was born Dennis Sharp in Kingston, Jamaica’s capital, but grew up in Manchester, a rural farming parish in central Jamaica. It was there while playing high school soccer during the 1990’s that he met and befriended future roots-reggae stars like Garnet Silk and Tony Rebel.
Moving to the United States on a soccer scholarship, sports and studies took up most of his time, but early this year Sharp morphed into Zella Dino and released the motivational Wake Up Call.
