A number of reggae stalwarts will be recognized at this year’s staging of the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) Honour Awards ceremony, scheduled to take place on February 25 at the Little Theater in St. Andrew.
The annual Reggae Month event will honour persons who have contributed to the growth and development of reggae music.
“Performers, songwriters, administrators and producers will all be honored,” said Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange, at a recent JIS Think Tank.

“The industry always looks forward to that event, where they are honoured by their peers,” she added.
Among this year’s award recipients are Dean Fraser, Shabba Ranks, Lady G, Buju Banton, Orville “Xpressionz” Hall, Elise Kelly, Chevelle Franklin, and Philip “Fatis” Burrell, who will be honored posthumously.
President of the JaRIA, Ewan Thompson, told JIS News that the Awards, which is a signature event for Reggae Month, “aims to bring out magical moments in history”.
