Cleveland-based singer Sun Shade is back on the scene with the inspirational Change Must Come, on which he teams with veteran producer Paul “Computer Paul” Henton. Released on the Jeanne label, it is distributed by Tuff Gong International.

Like most of the songs from his 2018 EP, Don’t You Be, Change Must Come is done to a One Drop beat. Its message, Sun Shade stressed, is something the world needs to hear.

“That we all need the Creator and each other in this time. Too much hurt, hunger, discrimination…My aim is to remind people to spread love to the world,” he said.

It is the Montego Bay-born artiste’s first time working with Computer Paul, whose credits include producing Jimmy Cliff’s version of Johnny Nash’s I Can See Clearly Now, from the 1993 Cool Runnings soundtrack.

Sun Shade was born Melville Malcolm; he migrated to the United States just over 20 years ago and lived in New York City and South Florida, prior to settling in Cleveland which he says is a growing reggae market.

“There is always a well-known artist passing through and we give thanks for it,” he said.

Following the release and promotion Don’t You Be, Sun Shade said he went back into the recording studio to cut new songs. This time around, he chose to work with Henton who has had success in recent years producing singer Stevie Face’s version of Aaron Neville’s Tell it Like it Is.

He is satisfied with the reception to Don’t You Be which was also distributed by Tuff Gong International.

“I am always happy that someone took the time to listen to my EP; I would love for the world to hear it. But I know that I need to continue to put the work in and that is what matter the most,” he said.
