The veteran artist, who was weaned on the romantic sounds of Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs, is unapologetic about his preference for ballads.
“My thoughts are that they are very essential, and to sing well with a great melody so lovers of lovers rock ballads can be pleased. There is no end to the music of lovers rock and it will always be around,” he said.
Zanadu has covered a lot of ground in his career which started during the early 1980’s when he was known as HogHead. His first song, My Company, was produced by legendary engineer Osbourne “King Tubby’s” Ruddock.
Like King Tubby’s,  Zanadu is from Waterhouse in Kingston, Jamaica’s capital. He grew up in nearby Spanish Town where he cut his teeth on sound systems like Black Spider and Malibu.
