Loyalty has always meant a lot to Versi, from his days growing up in rural Jamaica. He expresses the importance of that trait on One Dream, one of his latest songs.

Released in January, the single is co-produced by CJ the Chemist and Mr. Chin of Chemist Records and Mishnagi Records.

“Loyalty to me is sincere love and respect for who or whatever you’re loyal to. Hence, you will want the best for them as if you’d want for yourself and you’ll also love and treat them as you love and treat yourself,” said Versi.

A video promoting One Dream was released in March. It was filmed in New York and New Jersey, which are the deejay’s strongest markets.

Versi is from Port Antonio, Portland, a scenic parish in eastern Jamaica where Hollywood celebrities like Errol Flynn once owned homes.

Strongly inspired by Louie Culture, another Portland native, he launched his recording career in 2002 as Shotta. He later changed his moniker to Versatile before settling on Versi.

His previous songs include Wanted, The Voice (with Bounty Killer), 3 Card Man and Watch Over mi Head.

With summer the busiest period in the music business, Versi already has two new singles on the market. They are the self-produced Mind Games, and Nuff Gyal featuring Noah Powa.
