D’Angel

D’Angel–

The Lady of Dancehall, D’Angel, says although her COVID-19 Relief Concert did not meet its US$200,000 target, she is overwhelmed by the support.

The event, held via Instagram Live last Friday, saw performances from the likes of Beenie Man, G Whizz, Singing Melody and D’Angel. It was held to raise funds to purchase essential items for care packages.

D’Angel said that even though J$225,000 was made, she is not giving up.

“Donations are still pending, commitments are still pending, and we still have room for persons who want to donate. The channels are still open via CashApp: $2006MD, and Zelle: angelsproduction@gmail.com. I am also open to other methods of donation which persons might find more accessible, like bank transfers and remittances. My DM is always open, and so people can feel free to reach out there,” she said. “This is a very worthy cause and we will continue to push it. We set out to help and we will do that, no matter the circumstances.”

With the funds raised, D’Angel says she is looking to prepare the first set of packages and is hoping to start distribution this week.

“This week is a full-on drive to have the first wave of packages ready. We have identified quite a number of people who are in desperate need of help; some reached out to us, and others who received national attention. Team D’Angel is working on identifying a few partners to assist with bags, supplies, and more, to coordinate the physical aspect of our relief efforts,” she said.

GRATEFUL FOR SUPPORT

Singing Melody

Expressing gratitude to the artistes and her team for assisting her in planning and executing the event, D’Angel still felt it was a success.

“The response was overwhelming. I can’t even begin to sum up the number of comments, calls and compliments that have come in, and still are coming in as we speak. It really made an impression. Everybody who was a part of it worked hard to make sure it came together well enough, and it showed in the way the viewers responded. I can definitely see that they were impressed and I’m happy for that. The artistes who performed were ready the moment I asked them,” she said. “Everybody recognizes the impact COVID-19 is having on the world, and they were more than willing and ready to do their part to give back. I couldn’t have asked for a greater level of commitment from them.”
