KINGSTON, Jamaica —

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is reporting that 10 more people have tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 488.

The ministry said a total of 421 samples were tested in the last 24 hours at the National Influenza Centre and the National Public Health Laboratory. It noted that 99 of the samples were repeat tests for persons of interest and patients in quarantine and isolation, while 322 were new samples.

Among the 10 new cases, eight were female and two were male while their ages range from four years to 39 years. The ministry said six of the cases are under investigation including three from the Alorica Call Centre in St Catherine and the other four are contacts of confirmed cases.

The ministry further noted that an additional patient has recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 58.
