The Feel It ‘riddim’ is the latest production from singer/songwriter/producer Hopeton Lindo’s Irie Pen company. The 14-song compilation album was released May 29, and has a blend of established and upcoming artists.
Two songs — Cyaan Lock off The Dance by Anthony Cruz and Spiritual Man — were released prior to the album’s release. The collection also contains a remix of the latter which Lindo wrote, produced and released some years ago for a different project.
Lindo, who has enjoyed considerable success as an artist in the last two years, is among the acts on the Feel It. His contribution is the song of the same name.
He said the decision to blend artists from different eras was deliberate.
“I am very excited about the Feel It Riddim album as my main purpose was to give some upcoming artists a platform. Also, I invited some very established artists to give it the attention needed,” he said.
Cruz, Blender, Lindo, Peter G, Novel-T and Canada-based Steve Knight are some of the veterans on the Feel It. Also Luciano, Fiona, Lukie D and Anthony Red Rose.
INique, Taff, King Che, Lady Tia, Isah Blender & Jahmela Blender are among the Young Turks on the Feel It which has an old-school dance flavor.
Lindo has worked with an impressive cast of artists in an illustrious career, including Grammy winner Shabba Ranks, Maxi Priest, J C Lodge and Gregory Isaacs.
He was very much involved in selecting who would record on the riddim.
“I’m a very hands-on producer, so I was involved in the selection process.
It’s very important to maintain my momentum as my supporters are expecting that of me,” said Lindo.
That momentum has come courtesy of In Your Eyes and Guilty, songs he did with Fiona. Both topped the Foundation Radio Network Top 30 Music Chart.
