Black Ice

It’s the dream of just about every Jamaican artist living overseas to get a hit song in their homeland. Singjay Black ice is no different.
The Southern California-based artist is on the hunt for a chart-rider with Bun Dem, a song he did with Capleton. He co-produced the fiery single for his Yard Groove Music label along with KCMG.
“To get a hit song in Jamaica, it will mean the world to me. I absolutely believe the collaboration with Capleton can do the trick,” said a confident Black Ice.
He revealed that the link with the “Fireman” came through a mutual friend. According to Black Ice, “The vibe working with Capleton was amazing.”
Born Gary Palmer, Black Ice is originally from St. Ann, a rural parish in north-east  Jamaica that has produced a number of notable artists including Bob Marley, Burning Spear and Shabba Ranks.

He migrated with his family to the United States in the 1980’s, settling in New Jersey. But even while he was a member of the US Navy for four years and reading for a degree in electrical engineering at Long Beach State University, Black Ice had ambitions to become a recording artist.
That dream became reality in 1999 when he teamed with Rootsman for the song, Enemies. Since then, he has continued to record consistently, churning out songs such as Deliver Me and Onward.
Represent, another of Black Ice’s latest songs, is a salute to Jamaica.
