The first half of 2020 has been quiet for Junior X, but the singer/songwriter recently got back in the game with Jah Will Deliver Us, his maiden song for the year.
Produced by Small Axe Productions, it was released in May.
“Mi did have some family issues so I took myself off front-line duty to deal with personal matters. Then COVID-19 came in an’ wi all know how it affect things,” said Junior X.

Junior X

As is the case with most of his songs, Junior X wrote Jah Will Deliver Us which calls for resilience in tough times.
Last year was relatively quiet for the dreadlocked artist who had a breakout hit in 2005 with Plead my Cause. He released a handful of songs in 2019 but according to Junior X, “they didn’t get the promotion they deserved.”
He added that working with Small Axe Productions “things are different” and there is a renewed interest in writing and recording.
Born Richard White, Junior X grew up in East Kingston where he was friends with artists such as Daddy Screw, a deejay best known for songs like Big Things A Gwaan and Model pon yuh One Time Man.

His own career began in the 1990’s as a writer of songs for Chaka Demus and Pliers. Fifteen years ago, Junior X hit the charts with the yearning Plead my Cause which did well in Jamaica and on reggae charts in New York and South Florida.
Follow-up songs such as Gangster Life, Pill and Hustler further boosted his credentials as a vocalist and composer.
Jah Will Deliver Us is expected to be part of an album Junior X is currently working on, tentatively scheduled for release this year.
