After years of performing on sound systems and producing songs by other artists, singer Patcha Blacks made his belated recording debut six years ago. He continues that quest with Magnet to Steel, his latest song.
It was released in May on the Outta Jamaica Riddim album, produced by Tasjay Productions.

Most of Patcha Blacks’ songs were have been self-produced for his PB Records label, but when James Smith of Tasjay Productions called on him to be part of his 16-song project, he readily agreed.
“I’ve been doing my own thing for a while but I’ve known Tasjay for some time. He sent me two riddims and I sent him two songs one of which is Magnet to Steel,” said the Toronto, Canada-based artist.
Moving Forward is the other song he cut for Tasjay Productions.

Patcha Blacks, whose real name is Patrick Williams, is from Westmoreland parish in rural Jamaica. He has lived in Toronto for over 30 years.
Prior to migration, he was a regular on the Dove Melody sound system in Westmoreland. Moving to Canada, he maintained his ties to that medium by hooking up with the Golden Eagle and Road Hawk sound systems.

Patcha Blacks launched PB Records simultaneously with his recording career. He made that move after becoming disillusioned with producing acts he found “disrespectful”.
Since then, he has released a number of self-produced singles such as So Real and Don’t be Shy.
The Outta Jamaica Riddim album also contains songs by Anthony B (Rock Steady), Luciano (New Sheriff) and Rad Dixon and Teacha D who combine for Keep The Children Safe.
