A quiet market town in rural Jamaica, Linstead has produced some notable reggae artists. Singjay 1 Point was born and raised there and is determined to maintain his hometown’s rich legacy.
Not Possible is his latest shot at the big time. It is co-produced by Shotty Shane Productions and One Hundred Degree Records.

1 Point

As with his previous songs, 1 Point wrote Not Possible. Being original, he stressed, is important for an artist.
“Every artist have dem comfort zone. With me, it’s writing about life experiences, mood swings or what I feel at the moment,” he said.
1 Point yearns for a lost love on Not Possible which has a horn phrase similar to old school Afro Beat. The song was released this week.

Born Sanjay Guthrie, 1 Point has lived all his 20-odd years in Linstead, a town in St. Catherine parish that has a population of just over 20,000 people.

Joseph Hill

A number of high-profile acts are from Linstead, including Joseph Hill of Culture, Freddie McKay, Phyllis Dillon and Iba Mahr. 1 Point’s biggest influence, however, is Movado.
1 Point began recording shortly after leaving high school. His first song, Drink Up, was released in 2016.
