He may be a grown man but Alton Willis is still a momma’s boy. Mama, his latest song, is a tribute to his mother.

Released on July 27, Mama is co-produced by Saturn Entertainment, Lion Man Promotion and GK Production.

“I got a flashback as an artist of my mother which made the words of the song become reality. My mom always showed me the right way in life and how to be respectful to others,” said Willis. “As a strong woman is she brought me and my siblings, niece and nephews as well to Canada.”

From east Kingston, Willis has lived in Ottawa since 1991 and has established himself on that city’s reggae scene. Prior to migration, he got his start working on local sound systems.

Willis kicked off his recording career shortly after moving to Canada. Whatever success he has achieved as an artist, is attributed to his mother, Olga Mouiha, who still lives in the land of the Maple Leaf.

“She always made me believe in myself as an artist and always told me to follow my dreams,” he said.

Mama is Willis’ latest project involving Saturn Entertainment which is owned by producer Troy Warren. His previous songs for the label include Ghetto Struggling and Drop Inna mi Palm.

Willis has one album, Elegant Woman, to his credit.
