Gospel singer Derrick Scott has taken the unique step of releasing three music videos simultaneously to reignite interest in his songs. The videos for Some Preacher Nowadays, Everyday With Jesus and God Answer Prayers came out in July.
According to the South Florida-based Scott, “I released them for promotional purposes because the visual adds to the exposure of the song. And more exposure means reaching and spreading the gospel message to more people.”
Some Preacher Nowadays, which looks at deceptive pastors, has become his signature song. It is from Gospel Truth, his 2018 album.
Everyday With Jesus and God Answer Prayers are from Mission Ablaze Live, his in-concert album which came out in late 2019.
The set was recorded at Unity New Testament Church of God in Fort Lauderdale where Scott is a member.
“I am fully satisfied with the response I have received from everyone who have heard it. I can say for sure that the people are loving it,” he said.
Scott hails from Linstead, a remote market town in rural St. Catherine parish, Jamaica.
That town has produced a number of reggae stars including Joseph Hill of Culture, Phyllis Dillon of Treasure Isle fame and Freddie McKay, Scott’s older brother.
After launching his career in secular music in the 1980’s, Scott began singing a different tune a decade later when he migrated to South Florida. Mission Ablaze Live is his fourth album.
