Little Lenny (left), Yvonne Sterling (center) and Richie Stephens have collaborated on a new song. Little Lenny and Stephens were among the first persons to assist Sterling in her moment of need.
One month ago, If You Love Me (Let Me Know) singer Yvonne Sterling was “going through hell and powder house” following her residence being flooded out.
But now she is in seventh heaven. She is looking forward to the release of her first song in more than 30 years and also her very first music video.
“Words cannot express how I am feeling right now. God is good! All my life me a sing and when me hear the song, mi cry. The tears just flowed, that never happen to me yet,” Sterling told THE WEEKEND STAR from her comfortable new place of residence, outside the Corporate Area.
“Richie Stephens and Little Lenny are two wonderful youth. If everybody in music did stay like dem, what a wonderful world this would be,” Sterling said.
On December 8, Stephens, one of her new best friends, invited her to his studio for his birthday and the song partially came to life. Her other ‘bestie, deejay-turned-businessman, Little Lenny, is also involved in the project.
“It is just so exciting and heart-warming to be a part of this. To see the difference in her in just a few weeks is amazing. Her vocals are as powerful and rich as ever and she was so overwhelmed at being in studio and doing the song, that she replied with tears,” Stephens said. “Somebody had suggested doing a remix of her hit song, but I didn’t want to trespass on that.
SOMETHING DIFFERENT
So, we did something different. But it is her song, and it features me and Little Lenny.” Stephens would not reveal the name of the single, and, Sterling too, seemed sworn to secrecy.
“Richie draw fi a song! Mi seh, it a go fly! But I can’t sing it for you yet. We go all over the island and do the video. Sometime me feel a little scared when mi go Cane River and all cross some water, but me can’t mek Richie know that. Because suppose tour thing come up, him a go sey me is a ‘fraidy cat’ and him not going to want to tek me. So I just brave up myself. But Richie is official. The boy sensible is a shame. People going to be running down this song,” Sterling said. The single and its visuals will be released the first week of January.
