Denver “Jamusa” Silvera, the veteran Jamaican broadcaster who is recovering from the Coronavirus, is amazed by the support his colleagues in the music industry have shown him in his time of need. Over 30 artists have committed to performing at I Am My Brother’s Keeper, a fundraising event scheduled to stream live on irielivestream on January 17.
“What can I say. I actually got a little emotional thinking about how everyone has been showing concern. I give thanks,” said Jamusa. Host of the Making Tracks With Jamusa show on WAVS 1170 AM, he said he contracted the Coronavirus three weeks ago. Third World, Everton Blender, Hopeton Lindo, Kashief Lindo, Ed Robinson, Hawkeye, Bonafide Band, Willie Stewart and Wayne Armond are some of the acts who will perform at I Am my Brother’s Keeper.
Jamusa has been a mainstay of South Florida Caribbean radio for over 40 years, making his debut on WAVS in 1978. Prior to that, he had stints as a sound system selector with Jack Ruby and Mello Canary. Jamusa’s initial experience on radio came at WWRL in New York.
