Since launching his recording career 30 years ago, Chrisinti has sidestepped the lure of commercialism to remain a serious artist. That choice has come with challenges which he addresses in My Trod, his latest song.
My Trod was released in November by Reggae Vibes Productions out of New York.
“Everything wha’ mi sing mi try do mi best to keep it real. I believe when I sing about real things an’ real-life happenings mi deliver better, mi more honest to di lyrics, di punchline, di fans an’ myself as a creative artist,” he reasoned.
My Trod is one of two songs Chrisinti released in 2020. The other was From The Dust, taken from Say Yes to Life, his 2019 album.
His recording output was stalled by the Coronavirus, but even in tough times he maintains a policy of not “jumping on every riddim” to get a hit song.
“Is jus’ di love of di music keep mi going. I refuse to let anybody mek my standard drop knowing so much people expect a lot from me,” he said.
Say Yes to Life was distributed by Tuff Gong International. It was his first album since Again in 2005.
Chrisinti, whose real name is Paul Christopher Hudson, grew up in the tough Kingston, Jamaica community of Trench Town which produced greats like The Wailers, Alton Ellis, Delroy Wilson and The Heptones.
Inspired by Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and Michael Jackson, his career started in the early 1990’s with culturally-themed songs like Will Be Alright.
Comfort My People, his first album, was released in 2002 by VP Records.
