IRIE FM radio broadcaster Mutabaruka has threatened to take legal action against Fantan Mojah as a result of statements made by the ‘Mama Hungry’ deejay about the well-known poet.
Contacted on Tuesday, Mutabaruka told Loop News that he planned to pursue legal action on his return to the Corporate Area.
“Right now, I am not following it up, I am taking part in Calabash via Zoom at Treasure Beach, but I already said what I said and, when I come back, I will figure it out. If he doesn’t make an apology, I will pursue legal action,” he said.
The comments in question are reportedly those Fantan made about the dub poet, reggae legend Bob Marley, and former Miss World Cindy Breakespeare, who is also the mother of reggae superstar Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, in a video that went viral on social media this week. Fantan had taken umbrage to Muta’s purported critique of his recent ‘Fire King’ video, and his musings regarding Fantan’s apparent deviation from his commitment to the principles of the Rastafarian Bobo Ashanti order.
Mutabaruka, in an audio clip on IRIE FM, expressed surprise at Fantan’s broadside.
“Dis morning I get a video… di video have in Fantan Moah in deh a meck some defamatory argument. A don’t know weh him get these things… but him mus tell mi how him get dat. Weh him get dat fram? Which white woman him eva hear seh me deh wid? Him mus tell mi and di female weh him mention, as it relates to Bob, which Cutting Edge and when him hear me seh? When me have dah woman deh pon di radio, him haffi guh tell me dat or him haffi guh talk to mi lawyer,” Mutabaruka said.
In the video now circulating on social media, the ‘Fire King’ artiste said: “Muta is an elder wah we rate from mawnin and we naw disrespect Muta, ah that mi want oonu fi know. But Muta deh pon radio a say light fi drop inna mi head when mi a perform and call himself a Rasta. Come on Muta, memba a bare white girl you **** inno Muta, you deh wid pure white girl!”
