In these times of COVID-19 and lockdowns, a little lovers rock to rekindle a waning flame may be an effective prescription. According to ‘Dr’. Lenn Hammond, that is. Hammond’s latest song, These Arms, was released in January. Recorded during the COVID-19 shutdown last year, his self-produced track is aimed directly at lovers, some of whom may have lost some spark in their romance. “Couples are re-discovering each other throughout this pandemic. What better way to help them than with some words of love?” he asked. Hammond never lost his passion for making music in 2020, despite restrictions in place to prevent spread of the disease which has affected Jamaica, the country of his birth, and Canada where he has lived for most of his life.
He said he maintained a busy recording itinerary that resulted in some quality songs including These Arms. A nephew of Beres Hammond and cousin to singer Courtney John, Lenn Hammond is from St. Mary parish in Jamaica which has produced numerous artists such as Josey Wales, Capleton, Admiral Tibet, Lady Saw and Ninjaman. He has had hit songs in Jamaica and Canada with Just The Other Night and Mixed-up Moods. Hammond has also won two Juno Awards in Canada.
