A Clarendon farmworker has been charged by the Narcotics Police after being found with cocaine hidden in food items in his luggage at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

He is Ochena Demetri of Gimme-Me-Bit in Clarendon.

He was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, taking steps preparatory to export cocaine and conspiracy to export cocaine.

According to reports from the Narcotics Police, Demetri was checking in for his flight to Toronto, Canada, when his luggage was checked, and cocaine was found hidden in food items.

The estimated weight of the drug is 11 pounds. It has an estimated street value of CAD$220,000.

He was charged on Wednesday, March 10, after an interview in the presence of his attorney.

He is to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday, March 12.
