Up-and-coming young female dancehall artiste D British was murdered on Thursday, sending shock waves through the dancehall industry.
The 19-year-old female, whose real name is Patricia Green, was allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend in Budhole district in McNie, near the border of St Ann and Clarendon on Thursday.
“D British was a promising young artiste, a really nice girl. She was making improvements everyday, I even booked her for an appearance on TVJ Smile Jamaica last week and she did very well, so to hear this right now…this is disturbing and sad, her life just cut short for nothing at all,” record producer Javon “Likkle Peppa” Downer, head of Likkle Peppa Records, said.
In her community, Green was popularly known as Samantha, and worked as a customer service representative of Mile End, St Ann.
“I knew her personally, she was an orphan, I used to teach her at a children’s home in Spanish Town; I knew her and her little sister, very nice kids,” said Downer, who is also the founder of At Risk Youths Foundation.
Police reports are that residents heard a female crying for help about 6:30 pm and alerted law enforcers. On their arrival, the body of the female, later identified as Green, was found with multiple stab wounds and her throat slashed on a roadway in the community.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
