I was blind but now I can see’ is a popular phrase used by born again Christians. For singer Letitia Kaye, it has extra meaning.
Shortly after giving birth to her first child 14 years ago, she lost her sight. Doctors in Jamaica gave her an ominous prognosis — she would never see again.
But before her son turned one year-old, her sight returned and she has been singing praises to the Lord ever since. Her song, Fully Blessed, is an expression of gratitude and resilience.

“When I lost my sight I was desperate. I felt a sense of emptiness and disappointment because at the time I just had my first son, Tariq,” said Letitia Kaye. “I want this song to reach everyone, especially those who are down and feel abandoned, rejected and frustrated. Fully Blessed desires to bring a ray of hope.”

Produced by Marcia Campbell of Canada-based Warrior Cell Production, Fully Blessed marks a return to recording for the 41 year-old Letitia Kaye, a mother of three children. She began her career in her teens, then became a member of The Passionate Girls, a quintet that performed in tourist hotels and at local concerts.

Motherhood and temporary blindness (stemming from myopia) put a hold on her vocal career, but after she accepted Christ as her savior five years ago, Letitia Kaye resumed writing songs. This time, they had inspirational themes. After enduring personal challenges, giving God thanks is appropriate. “Over the past five years my personal life has improved in terms of my walk with the Lord, my faith has grown and the experiences I’ve had reassures me that God is always there for me,” said Letitia Kaye.
