Roughhouse, a veteran of the German reggae scene, drops his latest song Heart to Heart on April 23. The self-produced single is his third for the year.
A multi-instrumentalist, the singer/musician has lived in Germany for 25 years. He is based in the city of Dortmund.
“I would describe my music as very influential, original, and brave because I get my musical inspiration from all over the world, touring, seeing
different cultures, and working with many different musicians.
Also I am not afraid to involve elements that the normal producers would not even imagine of using,” said Roughhouse. “For example, in my songs I
would even drop a pot cover and record it and use as a snare drum.”
Heart To Heart is the follow-up to Rest Well In My Arms and In Love Again which were released in February and March, respectively. All are self-produced for the MPerium label.
Last year, Roughhouse released Peace And Inspiration, his fifth album.
Born in Manchester parish in rural Jamaica, Roughhouse learned music at the feet of his father, Keith Powell Senior, who played guitar with major acts including Dennis Brown and Bunny Wailer.
He has produced several artists in Germany including River Nile from Sierra Leone and Julie Lioness from Togo.
