For most of her career, Annicia Banks has been in the background delivering melodic harmonies for some of reggae’s heavy hitters including Marcia Griffiths and Dennis Brown.

In March, her cover of Love Has Found Its Way was released. The classic song was originally done by Brown for producer Joe Gibbs and A&M Records in 1982.

Having recorded and toured with Brown for several years, Banks was excited about putting her spin on one of the Crown Prince of Reggae’s finest moments.

“It wasn’t a pre-planned process. We discussed covering the song and when I walked into the studio Sidney asked me to sing a few lines from it and from that we came up with a reggae/ R&B feel. We then added other musicians to enhance the song,” Banks explained. Love Has Found Its Way is included on her latest album, Upfront. Both single and album are now climbing up the Foundation Radio Network Charts.

Currently based in Boston, Banks has been in the music for over 40 years.

Born in Kingston, she was strongly influenced by gospel music as a child. When she began recording in the mid-1970’s, her initial sessions were with with Fred Locks. Banks has also contributed backing vocals for other roots acts including Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Rita Marley and Sister Carol.

She has also done intermittent solo work, her most noted song being a cover of The Joy-Tones’ This Love.
