Sacrifice, the first EP from singjay Versi, will be officially released on June 17. It has nine songs including the title track. The New York-based artist, who has been recording for almost 20 years, says the song and video for Sacrifice has global appeal.
Its visual projects a working-class man trying to make ends meet under challenging circumstances. He is fired from his job but finds solace in the birth of his child.
“What makes a song like Sacrifice special is that everyone can relate to it. Also, in these times everyone has to make a sacrifice,” he noted.
Three songs from Sacrifice have been released. Those are the title, One Dream and The Voice which Versi does with Bounty Killer. Other songs on the set include Battlefield and Man Clean.
Versi is from Portland, a coastal parish in eastern Jamaica. Once the hub for the country’s banana industry, it has produced artists such as Louie Culture.
He began recording in 2002, shortly after leaving high school. Then, he was known as Shotta; he later changed his moniker to Versatile before settling on Versi.
