It’s been 11 years since Jenieve Hibbert released an album, so she’s overdue for a follow-up. That is expected to be released this summer.
The yet-titled set is produced by Small Axe Productions. Hallelujah, its lead single, was released in late 2020.

Hibbert said the uptempo Hallelujah sets the tone for the album which she disclosed “has a  contemporary reggae gospel sound”.
It will actually be her first solo album. Juice, released in 2010, was done with her husband Robert Bailey. She began production on the project during a troubled period.
A resident of Queens, New York, that region was hard-hit by the Coronavirus last summer. Her father, reggae legend Toots Hibbert, was also diagnosed with the deadly virus.
Toots died from complications of the Coronavirus in Kingston, Jamaica last September at age 77.

Jenieve recalls letting him hear Hallelujah which borrows the melodies of 54-46 and Bam Bam, two of Toots’ biggest hits.
After over 30 years in the music business, Jenieve Hibbert has no regrets about following her father’s path into the music business. Belief in a superior being has kept her going.
“My faith has increased enormously over the past five years and as this pandemic continued, it is God’s strength and consistent presence in my life that has helped me to stay strong and hopeful in the face of so much pain and uncertainty,” she said.
