FROM THE DESK OF RICHARD ‘RICHIE B’ BURGESS…Yes…the rumor that some have been whispering in media circles for the past week is in fact 100% true. I have tendered my resignation from THE EDGE 105FM and like George Jefferson (The Jeffersons TV Show), I am moving on up.My decision to leave THE EDGE would have to be regarded as one of the toughest I’ve had to make but, in the end, I am ready to grow and to take on new challenges…to fulfill some unattained goals on my bucklist. As the saying goes, time longer than rope. The year long lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic gave me some important ‘time’ at home with my family, which was used for introspection, reflection, to assess my broadcasting career and to look at accomplished goals and decide on the best way forward.Right now, the future looks bright like stadium bulb and it does have some exciting possibilities which I intend to explore. I am fired up and ready to ‘run the world!’

“1000 WAYS TO RISE, CHOOSE ONE At this moment, my hardworking management team is exploring multiple opportunities. I am not at liberty to say whether my new venture will take me to Dubai, famous for attractions such as the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building) and shopping malls that come complete with mammoth aquariums and indoor ski slopes or whether it will take me vicariously to the bright lights of New York – the city that never sleeps. New York is home away from home for many Jamaicans and it is a place that I could hang my hat someday and reconnect with some of my faithful listeners from way back when. I have tons of family and friends there and most importantly, it is the media capital of the world. Some say I should remain here at home (in Jamaica), as home is where the heart is. True. This is where my navil string cut and where I started my broadcasting career at RJR in the late 1970s. Who knows where the pendulum will swing? A final decision will be taken soon, after I (further) consult with Maker, my family and my management team.I can say I had a wonderful time at the EDGE. I am grateful to the Stewart family, the Managing Director – Mr Julian Rogers and the General Manager – Mr Ronnie Sutherland, for providing me with the opportunity and the platform to share my talent with EDGE FM and thereby, with the wider public.
The experiences gained has helped shape my life in immeasurable ways. Together, we made history and I move forward with fond memories that I’ll cherish and wonderful friendships that will last a lifetime. Thank you EDGE FM (management and staff) and thank you to the wonderful listeners for providing me with a fun and fulfilling journey. Stay tuned for more to come….One Love
Richard ‘Richie B’ Burgess
