Althea Hewitt, reggae ambassador 2021 and former lead singer of the award winning group 4th Street Sisters, has entered the Jamaica Festival Song Competition. Out of almost 200 entries from Jamaica’s many talented artists, her song “Jamaica Nice” made it to the top twelve. Last year’s winning song was “I Am Jamaican” by Buju Banton. This year marks the 55th year the Festival Song Competition is held and we truly hope this 55th winning song will be by a woman, as female artists are heavily underrepresented among the previous winning songs.

Althea Hewitt will present her song in a performance on July 15th, but in the meantime we ask everyone to vote on her song that is aimed to promote Jamaica as the beautiful and exciting island it is. Support Althea by listening to her song on your favorite streaming platform and vote for “Jamaica Nice” via telephone number876-444-7703 as of July 5th 2021.
