JOSH Harris, co-writer of Norris Man’s This Morning , said it’s a dream come true to have worked with the reggae singer.
“This is my first time working with Norris Man, and it was very gratifying as I’ve always been a long-time fan, so having this experience has been great. Everything about this process went smoothly. I wanted to sing background harmonies behind Norris Man, and he very graciously allowed me the honor,” Harris told the Jamaica Observer.
Produced by Umberto Echo for Big Feet Records, the song was officially released on May 28.
Harris, who formed the California-based label last year, also explained how he was introduced to Norris Man.
“I have been working with Rogelio from Dub Agency. His long-standing relationship with these fine artistes has been very helpful in the label’s growth,” he said.
Harris, through his label, utilized his long-time love for reggae to connect with some of the biggest and best in Jamaican music. The label has worked with many high-profile Jamaican acts, such as Turbulence, The Silvertones, Little John, Natty King, Lutan Fyah, Junior Kelly, Pressure, and Pam Hall.
The composer, who visited Jamaica once, said his label is always keen on collaborating with local acts.
“Big Feet Records focuses on creating unique rhythms for collaborations with Jamaican artistes. I am honored to have released songs with some of the great names of Jamaican music. Big Feet Records is the only company where the president writes all the music for the artiste to perform upon,” Harris said.
“I have been listening closely to reggae for most of my life, yet I’m not of Jamaican ancestry. I believe that my abilities are God-given, as I was taught the meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to use your gift for the benefit of others,” he added.
