After flirting with lovers rock on his last album, George Nooks returns to the sound that gave his career a second wind. Through It All, his new gospel collection, will be released on October 1 by Tad’s International Record.

The set has 13 songs, largely reggae covers of gospel favorites like Amazing Grace, I Surrender All, He’ll Do It Again and the title song.

Nooks wrote three of the tracks including Prodigal Son and Nuh Badda Worry. Through It All also contains a revised version of The Stylistics’ You Make Me Feel Brand New.

They are a contrast to the romantic flavor of For You, his previous album, which came out in 2018.

He said his songs are not just for Christians or believers. Nooks wants to reach as many people as possible.

“God is love. Christ himself went into the gambling den and whorehouses…no one is perfect. We were all born sinners,” he points out. “I feel good to know I can sing and make a change.”

A former member of producer Joe Gibbs’ formidable camp during the late 1970’s, Nooks had secular hits with songs like Tribal War and Left With A Broken Heart. As deejay Prince Mohammed, he also rode charts with the humorous Fortyleg Dread.

After an extended absence from the charts, Nooks returned with a bang in 2001 with God Is Standing By, a reggae cover of an Al Green soul/gospel song. He has not looked back.

He produced Through It All exclusively for Tad’s International Record.
