The last 18 months has heard Kashief Lindo rail against social injustice in the United States with hard-hitting songs like I Can’t See Your Face. But for Ram It Ram, the singer goes old school rub-a-dub. Ram it Ram is produced by his father Willie Lindo for the family’s Heavy Beat Records, based in Fort Lauderdale.

After taking on the system with his previous songs, Lindo was more than happy to tone things down a notch. “It kinda liven things up a bit ’cause everybody is stuck in one place right now. This song just says relaxation and be stress-free,” he said. Ram It Ram is currently number 21 on the South Florida Reggae Chart. It is done to the music of Darker Shade of Black, a classic instrumental recorded by Jackie Mittoo at Studio One during the 1960’s.

Lindo senior, a prolific session guitarist at Federal Records in Jamaica in the 1970’s, wrote Ram It Ram which is an homage to that country’s dancehall culture. It has a feel similar to some of Kashief’s earlier hit songs such as The First Cut and No Can Do. Even in these challenging times of COVID-19, the younger Lindo retains a positive outlook. “I meditate and try not to focus on it too much. I live a simple life and just deal with things as they come,” he said.
