Marie Coke was not even a thought when producer Henry “Junjo” Lawes unleashed Yellowman’s rocking I’m Getting Married in The Morning in 1982.

She was rearing to record a song on the song’s timeless beat when Lion King Muzik revived it this year as the Divorce Court Riddim.
Coke’s song on the Divorce Court is Feel The Vibes. It is only her second release, following So High which came out in 2019.
“I got on the Divorce Court Riddim by (producer) Lion Face. I did a dub for him from my first release So High and he loved my voice, so he sent the Divorce Court riddim and I wrote Feel The Vibes and he loved it right away,” she recalled.

Feel The Vibes is one of eight songs on the compilation project which also has songs by J C Lodge, Gappy Ranks and Pressure Buss Pipe.
A resident of New York City for the past 15 years, Marie Coke is originally from Browns Town, a farming area in St. Ann parish, Jamaica.
Two years ago, So High marked her official entry into the music business. It was produced by Bobby Digital, regarded as one of the godfathers of modern dancehall.
Coke is against boxing herself in any category, citing a diverse cast of influences, from Nina Simone to Beyonce.
“I love what makes me feel good.  I listen to music based on whatever mood I’m in. Different artists and genres in music brings it all together and makes life more colorful,” she said.
