Come November 23, the National Academy of Recordings Arts and Sciences (NARAS) will announce nominations for the 64th Grammy Awards. Producer Garfield Cowan is banking on Ginjah The Reggae Soul Man to be among the nominees for Best Reggae Album.

Cowan produced the set which is one of the 125 albums on a provisional list for Best Reggae Album. Released in May by his Natures Way Entertainment, he believes it has enough quality to impress the Grammy judges.

“The substance of the music, production-wise, the delivery of the artist, just the whole body of work says a lot,” said Cowan.

‘Reggae Soul Man’ is the third artist album for Natures Way Entertainment which operates out of South Florida. It has released several ‘riddim’ compilations over the years, including the successful Sweet Personality which yielded hit songs by Wayne Wonder and Jah Cure.

Pressures of Life and Procastrinate are two of the songs from Reggae Soul Man.

The reggae category made its debut at the Grammy Awards in 1985 as Best Reggae Recording. The inaugural award went to Black Uhuru for Anthem.

This year, the Best Reggae Album was awarded to Toots And The Maytals for Got To Be Tough.

The 64th Grammy Awards are scheduled for January 31 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
