Etana

Etana says being nominated for a Grammy Award is just reward for the road work she put in during 2021. Much of that was touring to promote Pamoja, which is one of six nominees for Best Reggae Album.
The other nominees announced November 23 in Los Angeles by the Recording Academy are Live N Livin by Sean Paul, Positive Vibration by Gramps Morgan, Royal
by Jesse Royal, Beauty In The Silence from SOJA and Ten by Spice.

“2021 was amazing! I had opportunities to perform on a short tour and I put in loads of work promoting Pamoja. I’m very grateful and we all know the pandemic made it very different for everyone in music. I chose to keep moving and stay creative. 2021 was progressive and fruitful,” said Etana. Released in June, Pamoja is her second Grammy call. Her first was in 2019 for Reggae Forever.

Pamoja contains 16 songs including collaborations with Damian Marley, Alborosie and Stonebwoy.
Unlike her 2020 album, Gemini, which she was unable to expose because of the Covid-19 lockdown, Etana had a solid run on the road this year, performing at events in North Carolina, Florida and Texas.
She believes the collaborations and blend of sounds makes Pamoja her most eclectic of her seven albums.
“It’s a great balance of Afro Beat and reggae. You can call it world but it’s more reggae than it is world beat,” said Etana.

The 64th Grammy Awards take place on January 31 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
