Jamaican actor Everton “E-Dee” Dennis returns to the silver screen in Temperature Rising, an urban drama that stars Paula Jai Parker and Omar Gooding.
Currently in post-production, the Oba Aswad-directed film is scheduled for release this year. Dennis, who is from Clarendon parish in Jamaica, plays Jacques.
According to Dennis, Jacques is, “A glamorous and brutal gangster that shows a romantic side.”
Parker and Gooding are film veterans. One of Parker’s biggest roles was as Lexus in the Academy Award-nominated Hustle And Flow; Gooding, younger brother of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding, is best known for appearances in the movie, Baby Boy and the hit television show, Grey’s Anatomy.
The lanky Dennis has been around Hollywood for over 10 years. Most of his roles, including Ragga in Gangland, have been as street toughs, something he does not mind.
Directed by Jean-Claude La Marre, Gangland was released last year.
Dennis says once his credits grow, it has become easier getting roles, especially in gritty dramas like Temperature Rising and Gangland.
Gangland was released 10 years after Out The Gate, an auto-biographical movie Dennis wrote and starred in. His compatriots Paul Campbell and Oliver Samuels, also starred in that project.
While working on Temperature Rising, Dennis was putting the finishing touches on Elevate, his third album, which he recorded as singjay E-Dee. Produced by longtime collaborator QMillion, it contains collaborations with Glen Washington, Wayne Wonder, Future Fambo and I-Octane.
