There will be a cosmopolitan feel to singer LawGiver The Kingson’s next EP, scheduled for release this summer. The roots singer’s first EP, LawGiver The Kingson From Kingston, came out one year ago. He flew solo on that project, but next time around, gets help from some friends. “I have a collaboration with Samory I (Real Hustler re-mix) and Treesha, a Kenyan artist based in Germany who toured with Gentleman,” said LawGiver The Kingson.
He expressed a desire to work with Jamaican neo-roots singers, Jesse Royal or Iba Mahr as well as Chimney Records, one of the dancehall’s hottest labels.
Like LawGiver The Kingson From Kingston, the upcoming EP hears him working with various producers including Kjah Sound from Poland and Anotha One Production out of Austria.
LawGiver The Kingson collaborated with Jamaican musicians and producers on his previous project. Cleveland “Clevie” Browne and Sly and Robbie among them. He is executive producer of that EP and acts in a similar capacity for the follow-up.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica but raised in rural St. Mary parish, LawGiver The Kingson grew up on sound systems which prepared him for a recording career that began in 1997.
He lives in Northern California which is one of the most receptive regions for roots-reggae in the United States.
“The demand for roots-reggae and dub music has grown more than ever, from my perspective. This is why my mission must continue to create more songs in this arena to fulfill the demand,” said LawGiver The Kingson.
