Last year as singer Nyanda pondered new projects, she felt one artist would be perfect for a song she had written. That artist was Stonebwoy. “I’ve been a fan of his music for a minute. And he has great respect for our culture. I knew he would complement the song so I slid into his dms and made my move. The rest is history,” she said.

All Fruits Ripe is the name of the song by Nyanda and Stonebwoy. Released in November, it has a Afrobeats/dancehall flavor. Stonebwoy, who is from Ghana, is the face of the Afropop/dancehall/reggae movement in his homeland and West Africa. He has also collaborated with several Jamaican acts including Sean Paul and Jahmiel.

Nyanda, who was a member of Brick & Lace with her younger sister Nailah, had a lot of success in Africa with songs like Love Is Wicked (by Brick & Lace) and her solo Cool & Deadly.
She felt at home working with Stonebwoy. “I love Afrobeats. Brick and Lace was one of the first international artists of our time performing in Africa and we fell in love with the genre. I love to see how it has exploded worldwide but honestly, it is very overdue. The talent there is undeniable,” said Nyanda.

Brick & Lace formed as a trio (the group originally included eldest sister Tasha) in their native Jamaica during the 1990s. In 2006, they signed as a duo with Konvick Muzik, owned by Akon and distributed by Geffen Records.
Their debut album, Love Is Wicked,  yielded hits in the title song, Never, Never and Take Me Back.

Post-Brick & Lace, Nyanda has kept recording and performing though not as much as a decade ago. On April 17, she performs at the Blue Martini club in Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale.
