Dancehall-reggae star Tanya Stephens has been confirmed as the headliner of ‘Bamboo Splash Acoustics Live’ which will be held April 28 at the Bamboo Splash Lawn at 90 Barbican Road in St Andrew.
Showtime will be 10 pm.
“This is a highly anticipated show because Tanya Stephens is a marquis performer, very outspoken, and widely regarded as one of the most lyrically gifted female artistes in reggae music ever. The whole industry is buzzing about this live acoustic showcase,” Natalee Jacas, operations coordinator of Bamboo Splash Entertainment, said.
The ‘Acoustics Live’ series, the brainchild of ‘Godfather’ and Jacas, started off with a much talked about event last month which showcased emerging stars Yaksta, 10Tik and Jahshii. Jacas said that there will be live showcases held on the last Thursday of each month with the creme de la creme talent of the reggae industry.
Tanya Stephens is a bonafide hit machine, churning out megahits such as Nuh Ready Fi Dis Yet, It’s a Pity, These Streets, Boom Wuk, What’s Your Story, Pon Di Side and After You. She writes all of her hits.
Stephens is a brilliant songwriter who also pens songs for other artistes, having penned such signature songs as the track Spread Love, which was featured on Etana’s Grammy-nominated album Reggae Forever, and the single, Rock The Cradle, for Sanne Salomonsen from Denmark.
Stephens will be releasing a new single, Diamonds In The Sun. featuring Diana King and Cedella Marley on Tuff Gong radio this month. The single is one of the tracks from her upcoming album.
An outspoken advocate for the downtrodden, Stephens has been using her Instagram platform of 89,000 followers as a pulpit to voice her concerns about vaccination. She is also a frequent commentator on social issues such as physical and sexual abuse.
