Etana plans to live up to her song, Spread Love, when she performs at The Garden in Fort Lauderdale on May 6. That show, dubbed Reggae Date Night, also features DaVille.
It will be the singer/songwriter’s third show of the year, and she’s looking forward to performing for what is expected to be a large Jamaican audience.
“The Diaspora has been very supportive from the beginning till now. I enjoy hearing them sing along to the songs they know. I wouldn’t hesitate to let them know I love and appreciate them so much,” said Etana, who spent most of her formative years in South Florida.
She came up with the idea for Reggae Date Night with Andre Morris. It is the pipe-opener for a busy summer period that includes a number of dates in Europe, on major festivals like Upsala in Sweden, Reggae Jam in Germany and Plein Les Watts in France.
Those events attract massive crowds and feature a number of top reggae acts. Etana is just as comfortable working intimate venues such as The Garden, a top reggae location for many years.
“It was last year that I did a performance in Miramar but this one in The Garden is a bit more up close and personal and I am ready for it,” she said.
Although Covid-19 put a damper on her live shows in the last two years, Etana recorded and released two albums during that period. Pamoja, which came out last summer, was nominated for Best Reggae Album at this year’s Grammy Awards but lost to Beauty in The Silence by SOJA.
