Resilience is the message from Major Steppa on Keep On Moving, his latest song, which was released on March 6. It is also a statement on his personal and professional development.
“I have grown from the young artist who used to do music for my friends and myself. Now I do professional music for the world and I have reached a point where I can direct my content to communicate on any given subject commercially for any brand. An example is doing dub plates for various sound systems in and outside Ghana,” he said.
Major Steppa is from Ghana. Born and raised in Accra, the West African country’s capitol, he not only embraced indigenous sounds, but reggae and dancehall from Jamaica.
His influences include Capleton and Mr. Vegas.
Keep On Moving, which precedes songs like Taaba After Taaba and Thank You Jah, was released on Ghana’s independence day. It is distributed by his company, Humble Heights Connect.
Major Steppa credits his collaborations with Jamaican acts for making him a better artist.
“Having the opportunity to collaborate with artists like AV&NTE, Nappa Tappa and Autarchii have opened my eyes to the business aspect of this musical journey. Now, my fans can access my songs on all major digital (platforms) which was not the same in the last five years ago,” he said
