Simpson, Mighty Diamonds singer and songwriter, 70, died of complications from a long illness on April 1. Formed in Trench Town, JA in 1969, the Mighty Diamonds gained international fame and respect via their hits such as “Pass the Kutchie,” “Have Mercy,” Country Living” “I Need A Roof” and Right Time.” Their latest first single in 15 years, “Fools Rush In,” a posthumous tribute to Tabby and Bunny penned by the group’s only surviving member, Lloyd “Judge” Ferguson, was released on June 21, 2022.
