Whenever a national poll is conducted in Jamaica, crime is usually the number one concern for citizens. Jayslik is among them.
His latest song, Peace, addresses another spate of homicides in the country. It is produced by Lion Cubb Productions.
“There was a time where a lot of murders took place in a short space of time in the country and I just wanted to express how I felt and also wanted to help make a change,” said Jayslik.
The 24 year-old artist is from Manchester, a rural parish in central Jamaica. Although that region is one of few in the country where crime is not rampant, Jayslik fears for the immediate future of his peers.
“I am very concerned because if the youth are the future and they are dying and also becoming criminals, then that damages the chances for a bright future,” he noted.
Influenced by Jahmiel, Shane O and Masicka, Jayslik has been recording songs since 2015.
Never Too Late, one of his previous songs, was released by Lion Cubb Productions in 2021.
