Bob Marley’s successful Legend album has been certified 14x platinum in the United Kingdom.

The certification, for sales commemorating 4.2 million copies by the British Phonographic Industry, was issued on Friday.

Legend is a hits collection released by Island Records in 1984. It is currently number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for a record-breaking 135 weeks.

On the Billboard 200 where it peaked at number five, Legend is currently 82 after spending 742 non-consecutive weeks on the chart.

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, Legend rises from 24 to 19 on the UK Albums chart. It is the 16th best-selling album of all time in the UK and has been on the chart for 1,042 non-consecutive weeks.

Legend has sold more than 30 million copies globally, with 15 million sold in the United States.

A deluxe edition of Legend was released in 2002, while in 2013 a remixed edition was made available on compact disc and digital. In 2014, a 30th anniversary edition was released.

Legend features the UK-charting hit singles Is This Love, No Woman No Cry (live), Could You Be Loved, Three Little Birds, Buffalo Soldier and Waiting in Vain.

Legend was also successful further afield. It charted on several charts including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Netherlands, Ireland, Norway and New Zealand.

In 2003, Legend was ranked number 46 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. On the updated list released in 2020, Legend was ranked number 48.
