With a chart-topping single making waves in South Florida and New York City, Richie Stephens launches a short tour of the United States on September 9 at The Garden in Lauderdale Lakes.

The veteran singer’s inspirational song, Reverse The Curse, spent four weeks at number one on the Foundation Radio Network NY Charts. It is currently number one on the South Florida Reggae Chart.

It is the perfect launching pad for his album of the same name which was released August 26 by Dubshot Distribution. The set will be introduced to fans during Stephens’ gig at The Garden.

He hopes Reverse The Curse will help him break new ground with the upcoming shows which are scheduled for eight states including New York (The Bronx), Georgia (Atlanta), Connecticut (Hartford) and Massachusetts (Boston).

“It’s a plus that this song is doing so well. What it will do for the album will give it immediate attention, because every time a radio man play it or you go on Spotify the album is of the same name, so they will know that the Reverse The Curse album is out,” said Stephens.

The album is the artist’s first solo effort in nine years. Interestingly, Stephens’ first tour was done before he even had a hit song; that came in 1987 when he was part of a Jamaica Tourist Board delegation to South America promoting Jamaica.

At the time, Stephens was a cabaret act on Jamaica’s north coast, performing in hotels such as Sandals. He broke through with Buff Baff in 1989, followed by the ballad By Your Side and rockers including Trying To Get To You, Maniac (with Bounty Killer) and Fight Back (with Garnet Silk).
