Ten years is a long time to go in dancehall music without a major hit song, but Chad Hype has never been frustrated. With Badman House Party, the lanky deejay feels he has finally got his  breakthrough solo single.

Chad Hype

Co-produced by Shabdon Records and his 300 Milli Entertainment, Badman House Party has been hot in Jamaican dances since its release in July. Its biggest shot in the arm, however, is being played on Hot 97 FM in New York City.

That radio station helped some of the biggest Jamaican dancehall hits make the American mainstream during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Getting airplay on the influential station is a big deal for Chad Hype.

“This is a dream come true. Growing up as a kid listening to Hot 97 FM on my summer vacations in NYC, I would tell myself, ‘one day I’m gonna be on that radio station’ and it manifested,” he said. “Hot 97 FM is New York’s number one hip hop and R&B radio station and for me as a dancehall artist, being aired in the tri-state and streaming worldwide it’s an honor.”

Flourgon

Chad Hype has impressive musical genes. His father is Flourgon, one of the top deejays of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, whose hit songs include One Foot Skank, We Run Things and Bounce.

His uncle, Red Dragon, was Flourgon’s younger brother, whose hits include Hol’ A Fresh and Compliments on Your Kiss. He died in 2015.

Appearing on a reggae remix of American singer Shaliek’s My Love has been Chad Hype’s biggest hit to date. It made the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2017.

With Badman House Party, he is hoping for even more success.

“Badman House Party is trending on Audiomac in the Caribbean, 12k on Apple Music, aired on Hot 97 FM, and is the new hot topic in the parties in Jamaica. I’ve received calls and offers worldwide from as far as Israel, Guatemala and the United States,” he said. “It has been my most successful song thus far and I’m confident it will reach the masses worldwide and make a great impact on my career.”
