The Positive Transfusion, a ‘rhythm’ EP comprising six songs, was released on September 9 by My MM Productions. It features mainly veteran artistes such as Luciano and Wayne Armond, who co-produced the project.
Luciano does the song War A Gwaan while singer/guitarist Armond contributes The New Babylon. Fellow veterans J C Lodge, Pinchers and Calton Coffie (of Inner Circle fame) also recorded songs on The Positive Transfusion.
Steve Malekuu, an American of Costa Rican heritage, rounds out the artistes on the EP.
Orville Marshall of My MM Productions co-produced The Positive Transfusion. Although most of the acts are seasoned, he told the Jamaica Observer that its songs are not limited to any demographic.
“The artistes are veteran reggae singers except for Stevie Malekuu, so the target audience would consist of reggae lovers across the globe of all ages,” he said.
Lodge, who had a solid hit run during the 1980s with songs like Someone Loves You Honey and Telephone Love, does Love Uprising on The Positive Transfusion. Coffee, the voice behind Inner Circle’s massive hit singles Bad Boys and Sweat, does Gonna be Alright while Pinchers sings Mama You Worthy.
Don’t Trust Them is the title of Florida-born Malekuu’s song.
My MM Productions, which is based in South Florida, began operations last year. An album of instrumental interpretations of Alton Ellis songs by Armond on guitar is another of the company’s released projects.
